Wheelbarrow!

An over-all shot of the wheelbarrow. Crow did the logo on the side and I did the grape vines. The ridiculous writing on the bottom is mine too.

A close up of the vines. You can't see the grapes very well. We forgot a palette so we had to use the drop cloth.

Crow did the majority of this free hand by just looking at Ava's logo on their store's awning. You can see the grapes better too.

The girl is the 12-year-old daughter of the Ava's owners.

I tried for the "paintbrush on a fence look" to keep with the rustic, white-washed over-all theme of the wheelbarrow.

Wagon Wheels a Turnin'

Crow and I had a great time yesterday working on the wheelbarrow for Ava's Downtown Market! The wheelbarrow started out with an erratic coat of white-wash. Ann (one of the owners) wanted to give it a rustic appearance. Crow spent the better part of four hours at worked as she painted the logo on one side. Though the initial commission was for both sides, Ann changed her mind as they are putting it against a wall. I painted a trim of grape vines, and words on the bottom.

We worked in the street so the curious passer-by might gawk at what we were doing. There was a flutist who joined us on the street for a while, but he left not long afterward. The entire day was a great way to drum up interest in the wheelbarrow, the store and of course (best of all) Coyote's Blessings! I passed out about twenty cards yesterday and talked to several people who are interested in commissioning things from us. I'll get some pictures of the wheelbarrow up here and on our site soon :)

We also passed by Mountain View General Store to say 'hi' to our good friend Tina. Beauty, the Beta knobling, has a new home now. I'm a little sad I'll never see her again because she was my personal favorite. However, there is a nice lady out there somewhere enjoying the magnet knobling on her refrigerator.

Wheelbarrow pictures are forth-coming!

Big commission!

Crow and I have been commissioned by Mountain View Downtown Market and Deli. They would like us to paint their logo on the sides of a wheelbarrow. In addition I will be creating a flora design to accent the rustic appearance of the white-washed wheelbarrow. I believe the store intends to use it in their new flora department. Although we are starting small, during the huge remodeling of the store, this locally-owned grocer intends to commission us to paint designs and pictures on their walls. Hopefully there will be Coyote's Blessings-created window clings in their meat department too.

I will keep you updated as things progress!

There are rumors of an additional commission along the vein of Coyote's Blessings true purpose - rumors of thirty snats! What's a snat?

These are snats:

Boop Boop Be Doop

Betty Boop!

Betty Boop Bangle Close up
Crow's clay talents! She created this wonderful Betty Boop for her mother's birthday. There are more pictures of Betty in our shop's "Photo Gallery".

Painted Flowers

The center of the blue flower sparkles.

Some pictures of the vase I painted for my mom's birthday. She likes it. The side not shown has a wispy purple flower on it.
The yellow flower cluster is my favorite.

Wheels are Turning!

Hello everyone,

Wagon wheels that is. Crow and I just received an official commission from Ava's Downtown Market and Deli. We've been asked to paint a wagon with the store's logo and generally spiffy it up. Of course pictures will be posted when we're done. At the moment we're working on gathering supplies and making plans. It is a sizable commission so everyone at Coyote's Blessings is generally excited.

Ava's Downtown Market and Deli is a small local grocery store located in Mountain View (CA). If you're in the Mountain View area, you can check out the groovy window clings Crow created. Their pictures will be up on the site soon.

In other news, we dropped off some more products at the Mountain View General Store (see previous post for a link to this fabulous place). Some of Lynx's Sky Sculptures are now featured there! I am also in conversation with two more possibilities for guest artists. I won't say any more about them until decisions are made.

We're growing! And the wheels are rolling...

New Cat!

Introducing .... Rosemoon!

We would like to welcome Rosemoon into our family! Our newly acquired cat has made herself at home - in one of the lesser used scratching posts. She is currently hiding in the lower half, but seems content to stay there. Even though she is only 11 months, she already weighs eight pounds. No doubt her Maine Coon half will catch up to her fast and she'll weigh much more by the time she's finished growing.

Crow is beside herself with excitement. So far our other cat seems cautious but accepting, and our dog is excited to see the new addition. Hopefully Rosemoon will easily adjust to our haphazard family.

Coffee and Ukuleles

As a side note, Dana Street Roasting Company is good coffee. They roast their own beans (as the name implies). The service is great and the people are friendly. They offer live music sometimes and are generally an awesome place to hang out (they have outside tables). Oh, and dogs are welcome – at least outside. Ask for a water bowl! Also, they have a ukulele club!

Random ukulele facts:

1896, from Hawaiian ‘ukulele, lit. “leaping flea,” from ‘uku “louse, flea” + lele “to fly, jump, leap.” So called from the rapid motion of the fingers in playing it. It developed from a Portuguese instrument introduced to the islands c.1879. Abbreviated form uke is attested from 1915.

Our first Home!

You can now find our items in a physical location! It's just like having our first home.

If you are a resident of the Bay Area (California, U.S.A.) then go to Mountain View and check out the Mountain View General store on Dana Street. Directly across from Dana Street Roasting Company (mmm… good coffee).  If you're a Bay Area resident, go check out the store and see some of our products first hand. She also carries the Bookworld Series.  The Mountain View General store also has a Twitter, and a Facebook page!

I updated the store! We welcome "Frog" and "Beauty" to our knobling family. There are also pictures of a Knobling I made for the owner of MountainView General store. Dubbing ‘Crystal Bird of Paradise’, she now lives in the General store and is definitely the most complex knobling I’ve created to date.

Watch out for leprechauns! They should be coming to live in Coyote’s Blessings within the next few days.

On a side note, Gray Kitty remains in our store, the person who commissioned her still has not picked her up. :(
